You then feed their contact information into an autoresponder where you follow-up over and over promoting various affiliate products that you sell.

This is still a great strategy and an excellent way to make money as an affiliate. The only thing that's really different about this now is once you've fed them into your autoresponder you redirect them to your blog.

This is where they then have an opportunity to subscribe to your RSS feed. Now every time you write in your blog, they will receive updates directly from your feed.
